Go Chad Hugo!

Can't knock the man's hustle. Movies and soundtracks: that's where the money is. Don't hate.

Dedicated Servers - Get Fly

Aww yeah! Another Dedicated Servers/Mr. Double U collaboration! The new song is located to your right (at the top as this post gets older). Click play and enjoy! Unfortunately, this song will not be on the upcoming Warp Zone project, but you never know. Maybe it'll be released on an EP or a random free download or something...stay tuned, and don't forget about the Warp Zone. It's coming...slowly but surely, it's coming...

smh

This WILL be bad, but being the Street Fighter supporter I am, I'm gonna see it. WHY do people keep making awful movie adaptations? Seriously, let's leave video games and cartoons alone (that Dragonball movie looks horrible too). M. Bison's super bad, but he's being played by...Neal McDonough? C'mon, the dude's too slim to be the evil Lord Vega! But I guess Kristen Kreuk isn't the beefiest Chun-Li either. Can't wait to see Taboo's (from the Black Eyed Peas) performance as the clawed bullfighter Vega, that should be good...(NOT). The whole cast just looks bad. I don't even think Michael Clark Duncan will be even to save the role of Balrog. Whatever.

Cutest Puppy of the Week! (12.22.08-12.28.08)

Say hello to Ming! This is another of Ron's pitbulls. She hangs out with Kato (puppy of the week from two weeks ago) and is always looking to be the center of attention! The funny thing about Ming is sometimes she'll crawl to you and/or walk to you with her head really low, like she knows she's inferior. Ming, too, underestimates her impeccable strength, especially when you're playing with her! She does become a little protective of her familiar friends, so she may growl at you but ultimately means no harm. Ming is one of the most lovable pitbulls ever! If you meet her, she won't leave you alone!

Yours Truly

This is Marsha Ambrosius' mixtape...that's right, Marsha Ambrosius the soul singer and 1/2 of Floetry. Singers are putting out mixtapes now! Needless to say, this is one mean mixtape. The beats are on point, Marsha has a fantastic voice, and the cameos are great (Little Brother, Busta Rhymes & The Game). Only downside of the project is Don Cannon. The mixtape could definitely use a lot less of him talking over these awesome songs, but I guess it is a mixtape. Anyway, click this picture to download it for FREE! Good music!

F Minus

F Minus are cool comic strips by Tony Carillo. They're tremendously funny and can be found in the F Minus book (probably on sale at your local bookstore). Here's a good one, and it's a picture link so you can click on it if you'd like to read some more. Good stuff!

That Heat

Suddenly, I can't wait for the summer. This is some nice, grown and sexy music. Great song and cool video!

Okay okay, say what you want but THIS is an incredible song.

Cool song...gets me in the mood to move (dance, that is).

Enceladus

(LATE, I know) In March, Cassini (a NASA spacecraft) had a close encounter with one of Saturn's moons, Enceladus. This picture was taken at 12 frames over about 45 minutes. The speed at which Cassini flew by Enceladus was at 14.4 km/sec (32, 211 mph)...INSANE!

The Big Picture - 2008 in Photographs

2008 contained many defining moments in history. A lot of it has already been documented in different magazines and websites, but I came across this one in particular at Boston.com. The website has divided some of the year's most memorable moments into three sections. Many of the photographs are impressive, some depressing, and a few graphic. All in all, this is an excellent collection of photos. The first picture here dropped my jaw. It's a picture of a storm brewing over an erupting volcano in Chile...pretty cool huh? Anyway, click on the picture to view part one of the collection, and click on the two pictures that follow it (respectively) for sections two and three.

Welcome to Christmas Wonderland

I.N.T. is an awesome producer, and he proves it with this holiday offering. Get rid of all your old, cheesy Christmas albums, this is the one you need to be listening to! "Welcome to Christmas Wonderland" finds I.N.T. flipping and remixing Christmas classics into fantastic, new treasures! Trust me...good stuff right here. Click the picture for the FREE download!

Gnomes

Check out this awesome painting by my great friend Dani!

I never knew that gnomes took care of small animals, therefore my appreciation for them increased drastically. I like this painting a lot though, a lot of you probably won't see much of Dani's artwork but I'll guarantee you right now, they're incredible pieces. It's a privelage to be able to see them all!

Storytime!

I don't care about cars.

So I'm on my break at work, sitting at the bar, and this mod lookin' dude comes over and asks if he can sit down next to me. Of course I allow him to, I'm a nice guy, but then the guy talks about rough his day was.

That's cool, but then he goes on to tell me that he's a car auctioner and begins spewing that car talk to me. Like "goddamn, work sucked today; I sold an Integra WSXMS4999 but then this other guy was talking to me about this new Mazda 9090483059837589 with the jet engines so I had to get his number, and then blah blah blah" damn it was one of the worst!

I don't know why but people LOVE talking to me about cars. It seems like dudes are always coming up to me and randomly pulling up cars! It's crazy! I don't know shit about cars! Don't talk to me about cars! Talk to me about dogs! Or better yet just don't talk to me! Just kidding you can talk to me...just not about cars...take note everybody.

Universal Mind Control

That's the name of Common's new CD which comes out today! "Universal Mind Control" was originally titled "Invincible Summer" and was obviously supposed to come out this past summer, but for reasons unknown the album was delayed time and time again (even before the summer!). On his eigth studio album, Common attempts to once again venture a path he normally wouldn't. When he did this on "Electric Circus", Common received a lot of criticism for "selling out" and is already beginning to get the same response for this album (much like Kanye West is with "808's and Heartbreak"). Whatever your opinion is, you have to give it up to Common for re-inventing his sound. He said in an interview that with this album, he simply just wanted to have fun on the records. What I wanna know is why artists can't break out of their box? It's not like Common's never rapped about girls and having fun before (look up albums from "One Day It'll All Make Sense" and anything before) I get tired of hearing the same stuff so this is refreshing for me. Lyrically, Common breaks out of his shell to rap a little more about girls, partying and having fun but still brings that signature lyricism on some tracks (like "Gladiator"). His current single is "U.M.C." and finds him re-discovering the old breakbeat sound made popular by Afrika Bambaata. This is an excellent album (in my honest opinion). It really is a summer album though; the songs are really catchy and are great to dance to. The bulk of production on this album is handled by the Neptunes and there are a couple tracks contributed by Mr. DJ (of Outkast fame). Guest appearances include Cee-Lo, Chester French, Pharrell, Kanye West and a couple others. The only downside of this album is that it's too short (only 10 tracks)! The U.K. version has an exclusive remix of "Punch Drunk Love" which is an incredible track (hit me up for that one). Below, I've attached some music videos from the album to give you a small glimpse of the album ("Universal Mind Control" and "Announcement"). You can also go to myspace.com/common to preview the entire album for free. Go support this album and support good music everyone!

Soul Brother Pt. 2

J. Nolan's a super talented dude from Atlanta and he just recently released his first music video for "Soul Brother Pt. 2" off of his new mixtape "The Up-Bringing 2.0". Check it out. (Refer to my previous post entitled "The Up-Bringing 2.0" for a free download of the mixtape!)

Kanye West Samples

This is kinda cool for all you producers out there.

The Spokesmen

That's right! The Resident Genius Owen and yours truly have begun work on an instrumental album coming soon. We've created a Myspace page for it and have recently uploaded a few pieces. Go listen to it and let us know what you think! You can leave comments there or here and add us as friends (if we haven't added you). Thank you for the continued support (to those that do) and stay tuned for more from the Dedicated Servers and the Spokesmen! Woops I forgot the link huh? We're at http://myspace.com/spokesmenmusic and if you're too lazy to type that, just click on this picture! Owen just uploaded his new track entitled "Breathe Electric" and it's absolutely amazing, you need to check it out!

Straight from Owen:

Alrighty, Peanut and I are creating a musical explosion to be henceforth known as "The Spokesmen." We will be releasing tracks as they are finished for an upcoming album. The first is up now, it's called "Breathe Electric" go have a listen.

Cutest Puppy of the Week! (12.8.08-12.14.08)

Hey everyone, meet Kato! He's one of the nicest pitbulls around. Kato is my friend Ron's doggy. Ron met Kato in Japan while away on an Air Force trip and had to have his companionship. They've been the best of pals since then! You would have no heart if you saw Kato as a young pup because he would just steal your heart! He's such a nice dog and he's really smart too, although sometimes Kato underestimates his strength when he plays! He knocked me off my feet a few times I've chased him around the yard! Nonetheless, Kato's a good boy.

Downtown Saturday Night

I'm so sore today, from a combination of the workout yesterday and heavy dancing at the clubs last night. It was fun though, shout out to everyone that came out last night and of course Sanchez. We got on that stage and started the party! Anyway...time to heal...with rest and good music. MCMD's got Skype so now we're making music through that...

This is pretty amazing. It's mildly painful but really touching.

Brolic

Just got done doing a workout with Cody and Owen. It was 30 tire flips (with jumping in and out of the hole), 30 pull ups, 30 swings (30 lbs.), and 30 burpees. Man it sucked! I only did 10 tire flips because that shit killed me! Props to Owen and Cody, I can't believe they got through 30 of those tire flips! They're incredible. Just to give you an idea, the tire weighs roughly 250 lbs. (I think that's what Cody said). Good times...not!

1.13.09

The Dil Cosby Suite and the Dil Withers Suite! They're coming! We finally have a date!

Play Cloths Mixtape

Pusha and Malice treat us to the Play Cloths Mixtape to hold us over until the release of their third album, "Till the Casket Drops". The album doesn't come out until April so I don't even know if this mixtape will really hold us over long enough! It's pretty nice though, Clipse definitely brought the heat on this mixtape. It's kinda short, but damn good. Click on the picture for the free download...

The Heat is On

Anyone remember this? This game is often overlooked but certainly helped pioneer the creation of dance and rhythm games. I can't get enough of this song either; good stuff. Believe it or not, I got some of my actual moves from this game! Who said video games were a bad influence...? Shout out to Phish for introducing this game to me years ago!

Da Da

Check out this new music video from Kay of the Foundation, it's called "Da Da" and is produced by The ARE. Such a good song! Can't wait for this album. Look out for his new album "The Talk Show" (date TBA). The album will have many guest appearances, including Oh No, Phife (he's back!), Illmind, Ali Shaheed, Nicolay, Sa-Ra, K-otix and so many more! Enjoy!

?uestlove vs. Jay Dee

This is a story about the creation of the "Little Brother" beat for Black Star. It's an inspiring story and shows not only how much of a genius J Dilla was but also how modest and humble the dude really was. It's a great story and you'll discover a little bit as to why Jay Dee is such an inspiration to me. Still the king of beats! (Click this picture of J Dilla to read the story)

Achievement Unlocked!

Props to all the musicians that contributed to this project, music's incredible! Can't stop repeating "Army Girl", "Dosu-Koi" and "Sexy Trunks"! Also, "Flying Heaven" is insaneley epic!

(...and because I'm such a nice guy, I've attached the free album download above, just for you! Click the picture and enjoy!)

Cutest Puppy of the Week! (12.1.08-12.7.08)

Kay is the coolest doggy I've ever met. He is Dani's dog and she introduced me to him last year. We've spent a lot of good times with him! Kay is one of the nicest dogs and he never means harm. He doesn't even care about other dogs but he's really cool with people. I haven't seen him for awhile and I went over to Dani's place a few times this past week and he never left me alone! He's a good little boy. That kitty in the box is Everest. He lives with Kay and does weird stuff sometimes...like jump in a box.

The Up-Bringing 2.0

J. Nolan returns after his clever I Am Not A Rapper mixtape with "The Up-Bringing 2.0". The album is a breath of fresh air; J. Nolan's signature "golden era" hip hop flow is backed by smooth beats by Young B. This is a great listen for fans of the old age of hip hop. Don't get it twisted though; J. Nolan is a highly creative cat and brings his own flare to it, my man's music is definitely worth listening to. Do it J!

Lighting Matches x Bruce Lee

Again, it's not the real Mr. Lee, but still an awesome video!

SSF2THD

I played it earlier at Matt's house. It's so good! I got online and beat a few suckas too! Great graphics...great music...great gameplay...simply a joy! If anyone knows where I can find the remixed soundtrack, leave me a comment please!

I was battling a dude online with Blanka and I won by default because he cancelled his connection at the start of the second round! He couldn't stand being beat by Blanka! (Either that or there was a reasonable Xbox error that disrupted his connection. I'll go with the first.)

We Here

Cutest Puppy of the Week! (11.23.08-11.29.08)

The boss is Dani (Jensen) and the dog is Ace. Ace is an adorable little H.I.T. (hunter in-training) but until then, she just runs around being cute! There's a video of her barking like a little runt, but you can see that video at http://daniandkeltonjensen.blogspot.com (I was unable to post the video here) but here's a picture to tie you over!

Haters

Ever since Kanye West premiered "Love Lockdown" at the VMA's, there has been non-stop bashing on both him and the infamous auto-tune effect. A lot of people have been saying that Kanye West has lost it and no longer cares about music, simply because he switched up his style. What people need to realize is that Kanye West is an artist, and artists, in any medium, evolve. That is, if they are growing artists that want to expand their horizons.

Yeah, the music's a little down and different, but wouldn't you be too if your mother passed away and a few months later your fiance left you?

Don't get it twisted; I really like Kanye West's music and I like him as a musician, but I'm not saying he's my favorite artist or his music is the best or anything. I'm simply trying to shed light on good music and change. He said so himself, this is simply a side project and "Good Ass Job" will come sooner or later.

For the haters; why? Why hate on this music? The hate seems to stem mostly from the hip hop community. If anything, this is HELPING hip hop because more people are attracted to this new sound, therefore intriguing them to check out previous works or similar works. This is partly why I believe only in good music and bad music. Just because the focus isn't on partying and material things, it doesn't deserve attention (not that there's anything wrong with those songs)?

Oh yeah...and AUTO-TUNE. Yeah, it's getting a little out of hand, but Yeezy flipped it his own way. His music doesn't sound like every song on the radio that uses auto-tune, so that's a plus. Auto-tune was invented to fix recording errors, but through the years, musicians were geniuses to think that they could tweak the effect and make themselves become robotic (even if that wasn't the aim). Perhaps musicians do need to lay off the effect, but with the simple 808 drum kit, Yeezy further composed "808s & Heartbreak" to an incredible, sullen theme.

The other day, I was thinking about so many hip hop artists that are still around, still trying to capture attention but are unable to because they are stuck doing what they're used to. There's nothing wrong with that, especially if you're good at it, but sometimes you have to take a big leap to find where you wanna be. With that, MAJOR props to Mr. West. Can't wait for "Good Ass Job" but "808s & Heartbreak" will definitely be in my playlist.

Album Releases (11.24.08)

Two definitive (for the artist) albums come out today and both are worth a listen.

"808's & Heartbreak" is Kanye West's fourth album and is considered his experimental project. Trailing off of his school theme (College Dropout, Late Registration, and Graduation), "808's & Heartbreak" finds Yeezy absolutely heartbroken and sullen. Rightfully so; the man's mother passed away and his fiance left him around the same time. Mr. West also picked up auto-tune, an old voice tool that remedied recording errors but was made popular partly by European musicians and T-Pain. The album isn't so sad; there are tracks like "Paranoid" and "Robocop" to lighten the mood a bit. Despite what EVERYBODY says about this album, it's definitely worth a listen. I have a post coming later on my thoughts about this whole "Kanye lost his mind" business but I'll speak on it then. For now, support change and support good music. "808's & Heartbreak" is in stores now!

Don't forget to pick up Ludacris' "Theater of the Mind" as well! Ludacris has been releasing some good albums and some decent ones but he is sure to stun all the doubters and haters with this one. The essence of this album (from a Ludacris' interview) was to show all the people who didn't think he could rap that he could...and he certainly can. "Do the Right Thang", a track featuring Common and produced by 9th Wonder leaked months ago and caught the attention of non-believers. In the track alone, he proved he didn't need hoes, cars and money to make a good song. Many believe this is Ludacris' "Blueprint" album and it may be just that. "Theater of the Mind" includes appearances from T-Pain, Jay-Z, Nas, and many more guests! Even though this album will probably be slept on, DO NOT sleep on this particular album!

Make You Feel That Way

My gas tank was completely empty and it cost me $26 to fill it back up! That's the way it should be!

What doesn't make you feel that way is when idiots at McDonald's don't give you sweet & sour sauce that you specifically asked for. Seriously, if you go to the McDonald's on Overland (across from Outback Steakhouse) you can expect your order to get screwed up. This is the third time in a row that this has happened to me and you would think I would have learned my lesson. Next time, I'll be handing out some Tiger Knees to these kids who think they're my future.

Dear readers,

I just cut my index finger pretty awfully. The Resident Genius got to witness it all. Despite my finger awkwardly wrapped in a waterproof bandage, I will be able to blog as scheduled. Please forgive me if I make a few rtypos.

Moral of the story? Don't cook. For God's sake, never ever cook for yourself. Just dine out or get some fasrt food. Otherwise you won't be avble to type correctly.

All get well cards may be sent to 8275 W. Overland Rd. Boise, ID 83709. Thank you for your support. Owen; I sanitized the knife.

Cops in Seattle

They don't even care! It's kinda scary, but nice too. I think they're just here to keep the homeless people in check.

I'll be home soon everyone.

Street Fighter IV

I finally got to play it in Seattle on a huge monitor! It's so fun to play and is visually stimulating (like an impressionist painting-anyone get that?) I didn't get to enjoy it fully though because it seemed like everyone in Seattle was on the machine! I just wanted to play through arcade mode by myself but I had to keep fighting people, and most of the time I was getting beat! There was one guy who was mean with Dhalsim! It definitely has the feel of the 2-D Street Fighter games though, despite it's new graphics. It is worth your money, even though it costs $1.50 per game. Maybe it's a good thing we don't have it in Boise...I might end up broke! Can't wait for the console versions!

Tony Horton x Dedicated Servers

It's a Party

Hey Touy, you might remember this one.

I'm still rediscovering "The Coming" and have been bumping this one real loud too! Grown man music!

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

Shouts...

...to our one and only fan (of the Dedicated Servers).

The other day, Matt and I were with him and he said "I was listening to the Dedicated Servers Mixtape..."

That's all. Granted, he was mentioning how he found some humor in one of our lyrics, but it makes me feel great to know that he listens to our music. This kind of stuff inspires me to continue to do what I do.

I'm not gonna say his name, he knows who he is and you guys might know who he is too but here's a special shout out to YOU. Thank you for being "dedicated" since day one!

Bussa Buss!

I was listening to "The Coming" and forgot how AMAZING this song is.

Stay tuned for another video coming later. "B.O.M.B." coming in January!

Janelle Monae is pure energy. You should see her live performances. If you haven't, you need to cop "Metropolis: The Chase Suite"

Shout Out

Yes.

Whoever yelled at me today when I was working the drive-thru at Starbucks, yes, I heard you. I'll assume it was a burst of joy rather than a choleric shriek. I appreciate the shout out. I hear them often but don't recognize them enough.

Rock N Rolla

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It's so cool and it's really funny too! I urge you all to see it.
