Back of my Mind

Man...fire! This Japanese girl Manami won the Star Bape search awhile ago, which means she gets an album from the Neptunes. She's really lucky and already has some pretty nice tracks from Pharrell and Chad. Here's her newest song "Back of my Mind" with some recording footage over it. Pretty sweet song!

History (Live)

SWEET! Check out the Black Star reunion on Late Night with Jimmy Failin! They're backed by not just The Roots, but The Dirty Projectors as well! Awesome performance, but it really makes me sad that there STILL hasn't been another Black Star album! Dilla forever!

Thanksgiving

Hello everyone!

Hope you're all having a good week so far. Shouts to all the college students out there, hope you're enjoying your week off of school! As you all know, tomorrow is Thanksgiving and it's "a time to give thanks"...so let me tell you what I think of Thanksgiving.

First of all, happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. I'm super thankful for all my friends, family, opportunities, privileges, what I have, meeting people...EVERYTHING, I truly am. Especially regarding music, this year has been nothing short of a blessing.

At the same time though, I want to try to encourage everyone out there to be thankful not just this one time, but every day of your life. Always give thanks people, this life is too short and while you're here, you need to let the important people in your life know how much you appreciate them. So although it's good that Thanksgiving is here to remind us to be thankful, we must be thankful everyday. That's why I always post these "THANK YOU!" posts after my shows, you guys have no idea how much that means to me when people come out to see MCMD and I perform, and being thankful for the shows is only a tip of the iceberg. Once again, I am surrounded by the best friends in the world and I love my family, and that's really what I am most thankful for.

I hope you all have a good day off tomorrow, and don't kill each other on Black Friday. Don't forget that BlakRoc project headed by Dame Dash comes out at the Record Exchange that day! It's gonna be good! Until next time, take care of each other!

Taxi

Dame Dash's camp is unleashing the fury! This is a pretty nice, chill song, you gotta check this out. This is a snippet of a song off of an upcoming project from the legendary Ski. This one features Mos Def and is called "Taxi" and is really simple but really good. This video, along with the other BlakRoc videos, are leading up to the launch of CreativeControl.tv, which is founded by Dame Dash, Chike Ozah & Coodie Simmons. I don't know what to expect from it but I know it's gonna be good!

Pay attention when the video gets to the :40 mark, I was flying off my seat! It's like two of the best things in one! This is way too funny, you gotta watch this. Pretty cool doggy!

Janet Jackson AMA Performance

Man...what better way to start off an award ceremony than with Janet Jackson?! The best thing was that she performed a bunch of old songs! I love her old songs! I mean her new ones are alright but man those old ones are untouchable! After being reminded of those songs, expect me to post lots of her music videos soon!

The American Music Awards opened up with Janet Jackson performing many of her number one hits as well as her newest single "Make Me" (which is super good and has some sweet choreography in it)! I can't stop watching this...I just wanna get up and dance! Janet Jackson is so awesome! I'm still so stoked that she performed "Control" and "Together Again"...those are two of my favorite songs by her! Enough talk though, just watch this performance, it's amazing!

Judgment Day

Oh man, talk about a flashback! I completely forgot about this song until today! This is good stuff right here! This came out around all that Y2K madness and the end of the world stuff haha! I see a common theme coming up with 2012...maybe I'll make a song about 2012? Whatever, just listen to the Method MAN!

Cutest Puppy of the Week! (09.16.09-09.22.09)

lol @ :31 that was like when Bruce Lee made his first attack on Han in the weapon room (in "Enter the Dragon")

All these animals are cute, not just the one puppy! This video is too funny!

No Man's Land

If you're still sleeping on B.o.B. aka Bobby Ray, you better wake up soon! This is one talented dude, and a serious emcee, don't underestimate him just because he sings. Here's his song "No Man's Land" which is featured on his "B.o.B. vs. Bobby Ray" mixtape. Check out the video and then click the picture to download the mixtape if you still don't have it!

Crash

This song is so good! This is Strange Fruit Project feat. Thesis with their newest song "Crash" which is featured on their new E.P. "M.A.S.K. (Making Art Sound Kool)". The EP just came out today and I just finished downloading so I can't wait to hear it! I bet it's pretty good though. This EP serves as a prelude to SFP's newest project coming out in the spring of 2010. Also featured on the EP are Supastition and Trae, as well as producers 9th Wonder, S1, Picnic, and Caleb! Watch the video and then click the album cover to download the EP!

Popular Demand & Doorman

Man, Clipse is GRINDING! Haha!

I'm really feelin' "Popular Demand", Pusha's flow is super nice on it! Lol @ Cam "DAAAAAMMNNNN" that was pretty silly.

"Doorman" though...it's ok. Chorus is kinda repetitive. Vicious song nonetheless. "'Til the Casket Drops" comes out on Dec. 8! Definitely supporting Clipse!

THANK YOU!

This is kinda late, but (word to Turbo) the scramble has been VICIOUS!

As some of you may know, we opened for Pigeon John & Josh Martinez this past Saturday at the Neurolux and it was an AWESOME show! MCMD and I had a blast and it was a pleasure to perform for everybody that was there. Pigeon John said I was like Pat Sajak on stage (which correlation I still don't quite understand) and said that he's never seen anyone emcee the way I did on stage. To even be acknowledged by him was so cool, I mean this is a guy who's worked with the Hieroglyphics and Pharcyde, not to mention an incredible musician himself. Pigeon John and Josh Martinez both throw a helluva show, so it was awesome to be a part of their crowd!

Big thanks to all our friends that showed up, you know who you are! Also a big shout out to all the new friends and fans that we met that night! It all means so much to us but I am especially thankful for everything that is going on for me musically and personally, THANK YOU so so much!

One more special thanks goes out to my mans Eleven for helping MCMD and I with "Running Around Town"! It's always a blast to perform with you! If you still haven't heard that song, go to our Myspace immediately and check it out, it's super good! (myspace.com/dedicatedservers) We have some other things cooking too so stay tuned...

The school semester is nearing its end, and I can't wait for it because hopefully I'll be able to spend a lot more time on music. I apologize to everyone because I keep saying we have new stuff coming soon and stuff but sometimes it's just so difficult to get to what I want to do! Be patient though, we got some super good stuff coming! Thank you again for all your support and we look forward to giving you more good music!

Staple x Star Trek x Airwalk Terrain Collection

OMG I NEED these, if not all, at least one! Now the tough part; should I represent the Dept. of Engineering in red, the Command Crew in gold, or the Dept. of Sciences in blue? Sheesh...this will be one of the most difficult choices I'll ever make!

Luckily for me, these aren't expected to cost more than $50 (thank God) so I might just get crazy and get all three. Another lucky thing is they will be released in retail stores. I know where too, but I'm not gonna say because I can't have you walking around with the same shoes as me! YOU KNOW!

Legacy

Good song! Raekwon, Xzibit & Murs hit us with a song from the "Ninja Assassin" soundtrack. Dang I didn't realize this movie was gonna be so graphic! Hope I don't get woozy when I see it...this song is pretty cool though!

Will Ferrell is so freaking funny, I swear, he doesn't even have to do anything, just looking at him makes you laugh huh! Oh man funny stuff!

I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman

Great song!

The girl at the end = ftw!

Can't wait until this releases in America next year! Consider it COPPED!

lol @ the last one.

Big Head Mode Papercraft Costume

A little late, but check out this dude's Halloween costume! I'd say it's probably one of the best I've seen this year!

Eric Testroete is a 3D character artist from Vancouver. If you haven't noticed, this big head is inspired by big head modes in various video games!

Staying in Love

This is so good. I love this song and I love this video. Raphael Saadiq ftw once again! Don't sleep on this dude, he's got wonderful music!

Dope Man

I cannot explain to you how excited I am right now.

Okayplayer recently premiered this brand new track from Slum Village called "Dope Man" which will be featured on an EP releasing on Dec. 8. The EP will obviously serve as a prelude to the pushed-back "Villa Manifesto" and will indeed have Baatin on it.

I had NO IDEA this CD would feature the FULLY united group, which means Dilla will be on it as well! SO EXCITED!

Until then, you can click this picture to listen to the "Dope Man" song and start salivating. So good! "Villa Manifesto" will be out in 2010! Hopefully no more pushbacks!

World's Largest Lego Mario

Good God!

This awesome piece of Lego architecture was built by a guy named Dirk VH. He used 40,000 Lego bricks and the final piece measures 5'9 (lol Royce!) and weighs a little over 110 lb. It is currently being sold on Ebay for a charity auction. Sweet!

Pac Man Pumpkins

A little late, but definitely worth mentioning!

The Cool Pac Man Pumpkins by Dave Adams

"These are carved from Sugar-pie pumpkins and mounted on black dowels on a black board. The "pellets" are small gourds turned on their sides. The cherries are crab-apples and I used some 18 guage wire for the cherry stem. The pumpkins were air-brushed with florescent paints to make them glow under black light and give that video game raster glow feel to the whole thing. "

Cutest Puppy of the Week! (09.09.09-09.15.09)

Too cute!

The Madlib Medicine Show

Dang Madlib is hard at work (as usual)! I guess he's releasing one CD a month for 12 months, and the CDs will be mixes of hip hop, funk, jazz, and other stuff. His first release is called "Before the Verdict" and will be followed by "Flight to Brazil" and somewhere down the line he'll be releasing Beat Konducta in Africa! Can't wait for all this!

"Before the Verdict" features Guilty Simpson and will serve as somewhat of a prelude to their soon to be released collaboration album "OJ Simpson". The CD will feature mixes of new material and old songs, but man this song "The Paper" is killer! You can listen to it by clicking on this picture. Another Madlib Invazion!

Battle

Alright as I said in a few posts before this, there was a young man who wanted desperately to engage in a rap battle against me. He simply would not stop nagging me while I was performing because he was just itching to diss me.

So I stopped the show and told MCMD to throw a beat on (I apologize again Matt, kinda selfish of me) and I introduced the kid to the crowd and I let him start. Oh before all that happened, I straighted everyone in the building out on what a freestyle is:

A freestyle is that: freestyling. Everything comes from the top of your head. Nothing recited, nothing written. It's what you feel at the moment. And no, you don't recite a verse to a different beat or just do it acapella, anyone can do that. This is something A LOT of Idahoans do not understand, so I had to straighten this out.

I told him that I would like to FREESTYLE, not battle. He went first, and it was VERY easy to tell that he was reciting something he wrote previously. Plus, he kept dissing me. I went after him and started naming my surroundings, just to prove that I truly was freestyling. I went for awhile, and he INTERRUPTED my verse. Rude. He then went on to diss me further, calling me Barney (though I wasn't wearing purple, nor am I very big in figure) and dissing my white Cinderella shoes (when they were black Nikes). At this point, I'm thinking "...alright, dude wants to play rough huh?" So I went on and dissed his shoes. It was too easy because he was wearing Vans. I said something along the lines of how he's just a copycat because (no homo) more than half of the crowd there was wearing Vans! I also said something like "Hey, who is this guy? Well, you know; he's that scrawny little dork from that movie Juno." Then I dissed him further of how he wasn't actually freestyling and how I was gonna stop dissing him because with the way kids are brought up these days (improperly), he'd probably kill me after the show.

Anyways, dude left after the whole debacle. He even came back up and told me I was good. Nonetheless, that's the last time I battle someone and/or allow anyone to take the microphone from the Dedicated Servers. Matt, I apologize again, I got caught in my ego because I knew I could take him. Even so, I don't like dissing people and hurting their feelings, and that's why I don't battle. I'll freestyle, but I won't battle. So many people were upset, they kept talking about how they wanted to knock that punk out! lol, thanks for the support there people.

Anyway, that's the whole story. Just to clarify, I am definitely not a good freestyler, but at least I do it. Take note Boise rappers; study up and step it up, if you're gonna freestyle, DO IT. It's no big deal if you can't. If that's the case, then DON'T DO IT.

And to that kid that battled me, I believe in you and I think you could make something of yourself in the future. Take heed though; fix your image. You cuss like every other word, step your game up kid because you sound highly uneducated. Don't get into this because your favorite rapper's doing it, get into because it's something you're truly passionate about. Don't EVER interrupt someone while they're rapping. You're lucky you dealt with me and not someone else who's more serious about battling because they probably would've just beat you down physically. Also, don't rush someone else's set. I made the mistake of allowing you to do it this time, but I learned from it. Keep at your dreams, but step it up if you really wanna rap. I'm not even a really good rapper and I'm better than you SON!

Oh and on behalf of our 5 min. rapper, I want to apologize to everyone and their children at the show for the amount of profanity spewing out of this kid's mouth. Sheesh!

Phonte on Sammy Sosa

lol seriously, Twitter is worth getting just to read Phonte's status updates. Here he is again talking smack!

phontigallo:

The ghost of Michael Jackson is looking down on Sammy Sosa like "Oh nigga, sha'mon..."

Just Visiting Too

As I stated below, Zo!'s new (free) EP is INCREDIBLE. One of the best downloads you'll ever...download (PROMISE)! Hopefully he comes out with a lot more stuff because what he's released so far (Zo! and Tigallo Love the 80's! and this one) are way too short. This EP consists of only seven songs, and they're all golden. Most of them are reinterpretations of old classics (such as Don Blackman's "Loving You, Holding You" and Bobby Caldwell's "My Flame")...actually after I think about it, they might just all be remixes of old songs. I don't recognize a couple of them though so correct me if I'm mistaken. Anyway, check the song out below this post if you haven't already.

EVERY SINGLE SONG on this EP is so good, I can't say my favorites, but I will say that I can't stop listening to "Nights Over Egypt" feat. Carlitta Durand and "Crazy You" feat. Sy Smith. Those two tracks alone should be reason enough to download this. Also on the album are Phonte, Yahzarah and Darien Brockington. "Just Visiting Too"...good late night music/baby making music. Get it! NOW! (Click the picture of the album cover to download it for FREE! It's just a click away, do it!)

Sky's the Limit

Real deal.

I'll accept your late pass if you didn't know, but here's the inspiration.

Recently, the dude Zo! released an AMAZING EP called "Just Visiting Too". Here's his rendition featuring Phonte. So good.

My favorite? Probably Biggie's. You just can't beat 112's hook on that song.

Despicable Me

July 2010?! SHEESH! Nonetheless, I am looking forward to this!

One more thing...

As I said, the show at Gameworld was...meh. So with that being said, let me leave you all with a quote from Mr. Muhammad Ali:

"Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even."

No, that is not in reference to the rap battle I got into. Like I said, stay tuned for that story, but if you're a thinker then you'll make the connections between this quote and what us local musicians go through.

-p

THANK YOU!

Hey everyone. Real quick I just wanna give a big shout out to Recco, a new subscriber to my blog. Hopefully you didn't accidentally click subscribe when you were on my page or something! Haha, I hope you dig all the stuff I put on here though.

I just wanted to give a very big thank you to everyone that came out to the show tonight at Gameworld! Even to those that showed up and left early, I know you showed up to support us and that is what means so much to me! To be honest, the show was okay anyway. There weren't that much people but we managed to make it a good time, along with some help from energetic dancing kids and good friends! I love that! Kyle, Aubrey, Noah, Maddie, Atticus, MCMD, Cody, Sam, Noble, Tom, the Resident Genius, Matt (Sasquatch), Ashley, Laura & Todd (and their kids), Ryan, Dara, Mr. Double U, Mr. Thornton, Peter (and his friends), Tommy, Pox's little brother, Kac, Vy, Sarah, Athena, Tai, Noy; THANK YOU!

And to those that didn't make it and keep apologizing to me, IT'S NO BIG DEAL. I understand people have lives too so I will never be mad if you can't make it to a show, plus we'll have more on the way anyway! I understand because I always run into old friends and say we'll hang out, but end up never doing so. You just get caught up with life, and you just can't take it personal. People grow, people find lives, find wives, find other things to do. All you can do is be thankful, REAL DEAL, so we'll see you at the next show!

Speaking of the next show, once again to remind you, we will be opening for Pigeon John & Josh Martinez on Sat. Nov. 14 @ Neurolux! The show begins @ 9p (but will probably be pushed back a little; you should know how Neurolux is) and will cost $10 @ the door ($8 if you buy from Record Exchange). The show is 21+...sorry kids.

Also, a kid asked if he could battle with me...yep. I'll save this for another post and share my thoughts and what happened, so stay tuned...I'd post it now but I need to get to sleep! So until next time...

Bread Shoes

Okay really? This is probably the next big trend right? Well, I dunno who made this and why they did but it's pretty disgusting.

Oh look at that, they even have baby ones. As if the children of today don't need guidance already...

Upcoming Shows

Hey everyone, hope you're all having a wonderful week so far...

If not, you can always count on the Dedicated Servers (that's me and MCMD if you STILL don't know) to make it better!

We'll be performing tomorrow night at Gameworld, the arcade by Edwards 21 (in Boise of course). The show begins at 7p but we probably won't be on until a little later since we are headlining this event. The show is FREE and is ALL AGES so bring your kids and grandkids.

And just a heads up, we'll also be performing next Saturday, November 14th at the Neurolux when we open for Pigeon John and Josh Martinez! Some performers from Seattle will be here as well so this will be a very very fun show. This show will be $10 at the door ($8 through Record Exchange) and is 21+. Sorry kids.

And with that, I'm scrambling to get to school so I'm out! MCMD, Mr. Double U and I are going to see "This Is It" today, then go record a song with Eleven! Good times! Stay tuned for that Eleven track, it's gonna be HEAT!

Here's N.E.R.D. (with new member Rhea) performing a song (which I assume will be on "Instant Gratification") on the new 90210 show. Not bad, thankfully Rhea added a nice touch to it rather than ruining it. Looking forward to this!

My Turn

Hey everyone, I'm back from Seattle :( I didn't post a Cutest Puppy of the Week last week but I will post one this week for sure!

I'll probably be posting a bit more so I'll start things off with this video from Basement Jaxx feat. Lightspeed Champion! It's on their newest CD, which I still need to buy. This song is super fresh though!

NY Empire State of Mind

Here's one of my favorite tracks from Jay-Z's "Blueprint 3"! Alicia Keys sounds so good on this song!
