Album Releases

Everyone needs to go out and get two very nice albums today.

Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest returns with "The Renaissance" and gives old hip hop heads (like myself) some nice vibes to jam to. It's been nine years since the Abstract has released anything commercially and it will be interesting to see how he gets down amongst today's hip hop. I've already previewed some of it and it sounds pretty sweet. This album has a lot of chill beats and I got to give it up to Q-Tip; he's well-balanced between beats and rhymes. "The Renaissance" main single is "Gettin' Up" and I've provided the music video for you viewing pleasure. Look for this album when you go out to the stores!

Also, don't forget to get the new "Yancey Boys" album from Illa J. Illa J is best known as being the legendary J Dilla's younger brother, but despite all the comparisons, Illa J shines through on this album with nice rhymes and an abundant amount of singing. The beats are supplied by none other than J Dilla and are very remniscient of Ummah-era beats. This is indeed a really nice album and I guarantee that anybody who was a fan of hip hop around the mid-late 90's era will enjoy this. You can sample the whole album at Illa J's MySpace page (myspace.com/illajmusic). "Yancey Boys" features the single "We Here" along with other classic tracks! Check it out!
